Safety Net Systems at HMP Berwyn – North Wales
Safety netting required for high security prison roof cladding project
Client: Mac Roofing Ltd
Our client, Mac Roofing Ltd required the supply and installation of a safety net system to provide a collective fall protection system for its operatives whilst installing roof cladding at the new super prison in North Wales, HMP Berwyn. The netting was installed by our FASET trained Safety Net Riggers.
HM Prison Berwyn is a £250 million Category C adult male prison in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is the largest operational prison in the UK, which opened on 28 February 2017, and is operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service.
Our safety netting solution
Type S Class A2 Q100 safety nets were used for this installation. The safety netting was secured to the steel using nylon rope with a 30kN breaking strain. This ensured the safety and security of Mac Roofing’s operatives whilst they worked above the safety net system.
