FASET GSA Assessment and CSCS Renewals

General Site Assessment to renew CSCS card

The FASET GSA 1, 2, 3 or 4 (General Site Assessment) is an assessment, not a course. Designed to measure the skill of already qualified individuals looking to renew their CSCS card for a further 5 years.

When to renew your CSCS Card?

The renewal of a CSCS Card has to be completed every 5 years, prior to or within 6 months of expiry. Consequently, the candidate has to prove their continuing competence. So successful candidates will be able to apply for a new CSCS Card valid for 5 years.

FASET GSA1 Assessment – Safety Netting

The FASET GSA Assessment for Safety Net Riggers to renew their expiring CSCS card. Candidates are assessed against set criteria. Subsequently, the assessment consists of a practical and verbal exam.

The practical exam has 13 elements that the candidate is measured against. All of the elements are safety-critical. As a result, the candidate must achieve a 100% pass mark on the practical exam. The verbal exam has 15 questions all of which relate directly to safety netting works. The candidate must achieve a 15/19 grade to pass the verbal exam.

What happens if I don’t pass?

Prepare yourself for the assessment by reading up current good practice and practising your skills then you will pass. Simply turning up and hoping for the best will likely lead to a fail. If you fail, follow the procedures below:

  • Fail practical / both – Attend the FASET Riggers course (new certificate required). Re-take the GSA1 assessment.
  • Fail theory – Attend the FASET SNfM course (certificate required). Re-take the GSA1 questions.
